Introducing me!

This feels like a very odd thing for me to do, as I'm not a writer and am not good with words, but I've decided to start a blog. To those who know me well, the fact that it's in part so that I can earn a badge will come as no surprise! To those who don't know me at all, well, that's something fundamental about me - I like earning badges! Yes, I was a Brownie and Guide in my youth for a few years, but didn't earn very many badges back then; as an adult, however, I became a leader in Girlguiding and loved earning badges with my unit, and encouraging girls to earn them too!

What else? I'm married, with two (almost) grown-up children, two cats and an incredibly fluffy (and loud) dog. In my spare time I enjoy reading (more on the related badges in the coming weeks!), baking, knitting, and kayaking.

I'm also living with cancer, having been diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer in November 2019. Again, I'm sure I'll be writing more about that in due course.

I don't have any grand plans for this - I'm intending to post weekly or thereabouts, and will share my thoughts on what I've been doing, or things that are going on.
