...OK, not technically as far as my Swedish trio a couple of month ago, but I'm writing this from a hotel room in Normandy as we've crossed the channel for the weekend. I did practice my French on Duolingo for a couple of evenings this week, but can't help feeling I really should have started a month or two ago to get any real benefit! That said, I did manage to buy cups of tea in French on the ferry (including asking for milk) and was understood so I'm happy with that - but that's definitely pushing my limits!
I'm hoping to manage a little bit of geocaching while we're here - there look to be plenty of options around the place, and it's a good way of exploring I think. But that's very much dependent on the others indulging me, so we'll have to see how it goes.
And while we're here I'm trying to push all thoughts of my impending oncology appointment far from my mind. Things should be OK I think, but it's three months since my last checkup (yay, but also very eek!) and that feels like a VERY along time. In the last four years, I've had monthly (or more frequent) bloods and appointments for at least 3.5 years, so it's very significant and rather scary to suddenly have a three month gap! And to top it off, that's going to be on my Sognificant Birthday!
So this is going to be a weekend of exploring, discovered, and fun. A celebration of time together, of renewal, adventure, and enjoyment. And, of course, French boulangerie!
